Bechange Benefits, Housing & Employability Advice Drop In Are you looking for advice regarding your benefit entitlement, unsure of the housing bidding system or require some help with filling in/understanding forms? Needs some help with writing a CV, jobsearching or applications forms. We have three Drop In sessions a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am and 12pm.
One YOU Lifestyle Service Drop In
One YOU Lifestyle Service are here to support you to have a happy, healthy lifestyle. One YOU can support you with a range of different issues including healthy eating, exercise, quitting smoking, alcohol or drug issues, sexual health, stress, emotional wellbeing and advice on local services. Every Friday, here at Bechange we will have a One You Lifestyle Adviser providing free weekly drop-in sessions welcome to all of the public or call Lizzie on 07800535541 to make an appointment.
Come along and meet our local PCSO. Need to discuss issues around anti-social behaviour, crime prevention and reporting crime then come along to the PCSO Surgery drop-in. Next sessions will be Friday 14th February 11am – 12pm and Friday 28th February 1.30 – 2.30pm when PCSO will be available to meet residents. They can help you find the right course to get the right qualifications, help develop your CV, improve your interview techniques, develop digital skills and progress into work. Free Internet for beginners drop-in
Dover District Council host a free internet for beginners session. Anybody is welcome to attend the event. Friendly experts will be on hand to talk you through how to access the internet and how to get the best from it. There’s no need to book in advance – if you, or someone you know, might benefit from a little help, simply turn up. Laptops and IPads will be supplied but you are welcome to bring along your own equipment if you wish. The next sessions will be held in Spring – date to be confirmed.
Food 4 Thought FREE Come along and find out all about cooking healthy meals on a budget. Get lots of ideas on meal planning, budgeting and understanding food labelling. These Free sessions will include practical cooking (take a meal home for the family) as well as information sessions. Maths Functional Skills Level 1 &2 FREE A friendly and relaxed course which aims to build your confidence in everyday maths. Facilitated by East Kent College, the groups are small and friendly and cover entry level to level 2 Maths. This course runs term time only, sessions are weekly and run for two hours. This course runs every Tuesday 9.30am – 11.30am . Due to Covid 19 East Kent College are delivering classes online for the first term. English Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 FREE A friendly and relaxed course which aims to build your confidence in English and give the skills that are needed in everyday life. Facilitated by East Kent College, the groups are small and friendly and cover entry level 1, 2 and 3 and level 1 and level 2 English. Courses cover the three elements of English, speaking, listening and Reading and writing. This course runs term time only, sessions are weekly and run for two hours. CSCS Training FREE Would you like to work in the construction sector. Completing this two day course you can achieve a level 1 Award in Construction Certificate which will allow you to work on a construction sight. The course is followed by a test which is taken at the test centre in Canterbury. The test and course are fully funded and are therefore free. Next Course to be confirmed
Emergency First Aid at Work FREE This course is for Adults who wish to learn how to administer first aid in an emergency situation; through hands-on practical teaching and demonstrations including Defibrillator training. The courese is facilitated by Kent Adult Education Response A certificate will be issued upon satisfactory completion of the course and a short exam, which is then valid for three years. Smart Families Get Fit Together FREE This is a course for families with children in reception to year 6. Families will cook together and make healthy family meals and snack as well as take part in a fun Active Kids session. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Playing Out Project Tools, for chidlren aged 7-11. The workshops are part of a large research project exploring outdoor play and are hosted by Canterbury Christ Church University. Experienced researchers offer a day of indoor and outdoor activities for your children, which will involve team-work, problem solving, creativity and lots of free play. The whole session will be video recorded so the researchers can better understand the psychology of group play. All staff are DBS checked and all data collected will be strictly confidential, anonymised and used only by the team of researchers. The next Playing out sessions to be confirmed
For Young People
Clash of Pans FREE For young people in years 7 – 11. Sessions will include learning practical cookery skills, Healthy Eating, experimenting with different ingredients, and understanding food labeling. Busy Bees – Games and Pastime every Thursday 10am to 1pm for Adults FREE An opportunity to meet with others and play games such as Scrabble, Cluedo, Bridge, Dominos. Just drop in. The games club also meet on alternate Wednesday for scrabble, please contact for more details. Refreshments available
Busy Bees – Upcycling every Friday 10am – 2pm (although you can come and go as you please) for Adults FREE Upcycling involves taking old furniture and materials and making them into something new and beautiful. This group is all about sharing and learning new skills, as well as spending time with like minded people. The group is friendly and always welcomes new members. Great fun and good for the environment too! No experience necessary. Refreshments available.
Craft Club – Every Wednesday 10am – noon for Adults FREE Starting up from 15th January 2020 Our craft club is for adults and is a great opportunity to come and try our different crafts and meet like minded poeole who enjoy being creative. No experience is necessary. You can bring you’re own crafts or use from our stock available crafts sessions run from 10am to 12pm
Swap Shop Our One YOU advisor runs a monthly Swap Shop here at Bechange Community Hub. Come and swap those pre-loved but outgrown children clothes, toys and children equipment. Our next swap shop will be 13th March.

Fitness with Abi – Blaze dance workout
